Ronald (“Ronnie”) Simpson Sr, age 78, went home to meet his Savior on March 29, 2022, surrounded by loved ones at Cone Hospital. Born in Greensboro and a graduate of Oak Ridge Military Academy, Ronnie was the kind, comedic gentleman with a giving spirit and heart of gold. During his years at Hanner Hardware, many knew him as the handsome, helpful, young man with a crew cut-the guy who would make up a funny story at the drop of a hat, just to see you smile, maybe, laugh out loud.
Ronnie always enjoyed helping others and made a life’s work of it. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents: Mack Cleo Simpson and Cosie Case Simpson. Left to mourn his departure are his wife for 57 years, Mary Kay Duncan Simpson. His children: Kim Simpson Rosende ( Gary), Ronnie Simpson , Jr. (Lisa), Connie Simpson, and Amy Simpson Cryder ( Neal). His grandchildren: Kara Grace Simpson, Matilda Scout Cryder, Amber Hope Simpson, and Remington Alexander Cryder. His loving Brother, Mike Simpson, (Ruth), nephews: Sammy Simpson ,and Danny Simpson, niece: Emmy Simpson and constant companion his cat, Steve.
Ronnie loved everything out-doors: hunting , fishing, cutting wood, raising a garden, loving his cows and pigs, furnishing the winters food supply raised by his own hands and he always enjoyed the Christmas Season.
Ronnie and MaryKay met in high school. He proposed on March 29, 1964, and left this earth on March 29, 2022. After many years of declining health, by Amazing Grace his chains are now gone.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 3, 2022 ,at 2:00 P.M. at Lake Brandt Baptist on Trosper Road, with visitation immediately following.
