Hutchison, Robert Wiley

GREENSBORO Robert Wiley Hutchison died at Cone Hospital on May 9, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Bob was born May 24, 1944, in Greensboro, the youngest child of Mary Sue Wiley Hutchison and Gilbert Mills Hutchison. He attended Greensboro public schools and Hargrave Military Academy. He also attended Guilford College. While attending Lindley Elementary School, his little dog, "Tinka," would walk to school with Bob then return home. When it was time for school to be out, Tinka would return to Lindley Elementary and walk home with Bob. Bob had an outgoing personality, was friendly to everyone, and never met a stranger. He loved to play harmless pranks on people. Once, after his parents had gone to sleep, he and a friend moved all of their dining room furniture onto the lawn and awoke to his mother's screams the next morning. Bob was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Gilbert Mills Hutchison, Jr. (Chip); sisters Betty Hutchison Hardenberg, and Helen Hutchison LaVack. Bob is survived by his son, Robert W. Hutchison, Jr. (Christina); grandchildren Ashley, Charlie, Robbie, and John Hutchison, and by many nieces and nephews. A private celebration of remembrance for the family will be held at a later time.
